The Geological Society of Nevada invites authors to submit abstracts, extended abstracts, and technical papers for the 2027 Geological Society of Nevada Symposium (27GSNS).

Held once every five years, the Symposium is one of the largest geoscience meetings in the United States and serves as a major forum for research and technical exchange focused on the geology and mineral systems of the Great Basin.

The 2027 Symposium will include:

  • Technical presentations
  • Poster sessions
  • Core Shack exhibits
  • Symposium Proceedings
  • Program with Abstracts

All submissions will undergo peer review to support technical quality, scientific integrity, and relevance to the Symposium program.

SUBMISSION TIMELINE

  • Draft Abstracts Due: Closed
  • Final Revised Abstracts Due: January 15, 2027
  • Draft Manuscripts Due: October 31, 2026
  • Final Revised Manuscripts Due: January 15, 2027
  • Final Proof Corrections Due: March 15, 2027

Abstract ≤1,000 words Required for presentations
Extended Abstract ≤3,000 words Includes abbreviated abstract
Full Paper 3,000-20,000 words Full manuscript with figures/tables

REVIEW & EDITING PROCESS
All abstracts and manuscripts will undergo peer review by experienced geologists.

Editorial comments and requested revisions will be provided through Microsoft Word track changes and comments.

Accepted final manuscripts will be converted to PDF format for final author review prior to publication.

ETHICAL GUIDELINES & COPYRIGHT
The Symposium follows the Geological Society of America Ethical Guidelines for Publication.

Copyright remains with the respective authors and rights holders.
