1. Ore and alteration features in epithermal deposits and transition to porphyry
- April 24-25, 2027 (Saturday, Sunday)

The course will provide a comprehensive introduction to the magmatic-hydrothermal systems that form porphyry copper and epithermal deposits, including a practical review of ore and alteration features in high-, intermediate-, and low-sulfidation deposits, and the transition to the porphyry copper environment of mineralization/alteration.
2. Mineral Resource Estimation for Public Reporting

Mineral resource estimation (MRE) is an essential part of evaluating the viability of an exploration project and informing shareholders through public reporting. MRE is a multi-step process, and geostatistics is applied throughout for a range of reasons. A reliable mineral resource estimate, as included in public reports, must include all relevant information so the reader can make an informed investment decision. A Competent Person (CP) therefore needs a thorough understanding of mineralization controls and accurate data interpretation for incorporation into a resource estimation process using a computerized block model. Robust geostatistical analysis and application of the Reasonable Prospect for Economic Extraction criteria are essential for assigning confidence and defining mineral resources.
This course is designed for both experienced professionals and those pursuing CP status in the future, using a major reporting code or guideline such as S-K 1300 (SEC, USA), NI 43-101 (Canada), or JORC (Australasia). Topics include geological controls and styles of mineralization, data QA/QC, exploratory data analysis (EDA), variogram analysis, and interpolation techniques such as inverse distance squared and kriging. Resource classification and the reporting of mineral resources will also be covered. The program is
interactive, with shared experiences and question-and-answer sessions throughout.
Presenter: Dr. Abani R. Samal holds a PhD from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, DIC and MS degrees from Imperial College London, and an M.Tech in Mineral Exploration from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, India. He has worked in the global mining industry since 1996 and is currently Principal and Owner of GeoGlobal LLC, providing strategic advisory services to exploration and mining companies, government agencies, and major financial institutions worldwide. He also delivers professional development and continuing education programs to industry professionals globally. A Fellow of SEG, AusIMM, and SME, he serves as Associate Editor (Geology and Exploration) for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (MME) and as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Natural Resources Research (NRR).
